I have a local guy that wants to trade me a Getrag setup for my auto (tires of shifting gears). I would really like the 5 speed, and I have a good 4wd A518 with a recent rebuild. Only problem is it's 4wd and his is 2wd. I can get around the 2wd Getrag by running a divorce mounted T case, but I would need to make the A518 2wd. Can I swap the rear cover and output shaft?

I appreciate any insight you guys can give me!

 

yeah its possilbe. and pretty easy two my brother did the opposite with the 2wd A518 that i pulled out of my dodge. (leting him use for his blazer conversion) All you need to do is change the case and output shaft on the overdrive.
