Coil Spring Project

I'm going to be attempting to install the coil springs on my truck, and I have a couple of ?'s

1. Do you have to compress the spring in any way when installing it?

2. Is there anything else that should be changed while I'm doing the springs?

no compression, just stick em in there and use a jack on the LCA to get them compressed and into place.

Only thing that I've found is that you may need to chain down the frame or lifting the lower control arm to compress the spring may lift the entire truck. I chained the frame to the floor jack before I started jacking so that the frame couldn't raise up.

I hope this isn't needed because I have nothing to chain it too!

I didn't realize any 1st gen trucks had coil springs (except on the valves). I haven't ever been around a 4x2 I guess!

I put in super HD Moogs and did'nt need to use a chain just slowly dropped the jack.

That's why I had to chain from the truck frame to the jack frame. I didn't have anything else to chain to either. Good luck with it.

Update

Well I finally got the truck back from the a/c guy, so I started on the springs.
I went by one of the write ups here on the forum, got the driver side in. Maybe tomorrow I can finish. Later, Tony

Finally

Holy smokes does the truck set up now! It raised the front end so much I might need to raise the rear some. I forgot to measure before I started but it is at least 2 to 3 inches from where it was. Took it for a test run and not really that bad, not as bad as I thought it would be. Later, Tony
