Clutch Release Fork-Remove Trany?

My clutch release fork has been punched through by the pivot. Do I have to remove the trany to put in the new fork and pivot?

Yes

Yes.
Think about replacing clutch, when in there. Its easier to do it now, while your in there. (Future Power Upgrades) I learned from expericnce.

Even if you determine the clutch is still good, a new release bearing and pilot bushing may save future headaches.

If you don't have the time or facilitiies to R & R your tranny, the answer is yes you can replace the fork without removing the tranny. If you can remove the tranny the other posters here are correct, just bite the bullet and fix it all now.

Peace,

Joseph

How do you get to shift fork out without removing bell housing? You can only pull housing by removing trans, the removing clutch housing? IIRC
Please correct me if I am wrong.

The shift fork comes out by removing the rubber boot then grasping the fork with a large set of channel locks and pulling straight out of the bellhousing. It is held in place by clips on a ring assembly next to the bearing that allow the fork to be slid in and out. To get it back in will require a flash light, a 8"-12" flat head screwdriver, and some finessing. Check out the picture. Hope this helps....

Peace,

Joseph
