clutch for mild rig
clutch for mild rig
I am going to be pulling my getrag for a rebuild and with 230k miles on it I am thinking do the clutch while it is appart. I am getting some chatter at a few rpms that I suspect might be the springs rattling.
What would be a good affordable clutch for a fairly stock rig? I usually don't pull more than 6k lbs. I know that from reading I will most likely be going to the newer smaller clutch unless I really want to fork out some cash.
I haven't been on the board much the past couple of months with the truck parked awaiting being fixed.

I have the LUK Pro-gold and I am very happy with. I don't pull very much very often. I think I paid about $350 at

13" stock Sachs clutch would be a good replacement. I think www.quad4x4.com sells them. Good to about 800rwftlb.
I'm with Bill on this one. The stock clutch on these 1st gens is really tough. Mine was holding around 700 ft-lb just fine, I swapped in a Con-O when the trans was out for rebuild. The Con-O is not a towing clutch, though.
I swapped out the 221,000 mile sachs when the getrag needed an overhual. The original sachs clutch is really a nice setup. I went with the South Bend CON OFE, it was pricey, but it has proven to be easy to drive in traffic and will hold what the cummins throws at it.
