Chevy or Dodge Dana 60??

Im converting my 91.5 to 4wd. I have located a dana 60 stash and have my choice of Chevy or Dodge units. Both are 4.10 units and the chevy is 2 inches wider from wheel mount to wheel mount and half an inch wider spring perch to spring perch. Im thinking the slightly wider track would be a good thing, especially because im gonna be changing the Dana 70 in the rear to a 14 bolt. Is there any issue buying the chevy unit and using it under my dodge or should I just buy the dodge unit?? Thanks

Do you know if the Chevy spring pad is wider? Dodge leafs are narrow.

both gm and dodge use 2.5" wide springs.

if you like the wider track get the gm axle. set your truck up to run either spring center.

I have a Dodge Dana 60 in the front of my 78 GMC. The Dodge spring pads are about 1/2 inch narrower than the GM's you can make them work and I did but I have always worried about the spring bushings life.

I put a GM dana 60 under my 92 w250 and i had to squeeze the springs together to get them to fit. The chevy spring pads should be .5 narrower than the dodges. The truck drove fine with the chevy axle but destroyed my shackle bushings.

Listen to comotionman and read the dana 60 bible and you will have alot of questions answered.
