Changed seals in steering gear, now there is a clunk???
After changing the input shaft seals, I noticed that there is a clunk when steering sharp right before the wheel hits the stops. Iis not very noticable when driving and I rarely steer the wheel sharply when the vehicle is stationary, so maybe it has done this all along and I just did not notice(but I am thinking that I would have noticed it before at some point
). I am pretty certain that I got the internals together correctly and according to instructions and that I also tightened the end of the steering box correctly.
Any ideas? I really don't want to tear the stinken thing apart again, but if that is what I need to do, so be it! I did not remove the steering box to change the seal, so maybe I should check out the frame. I noticed some flex between the box and frame when I watched while someone else steered sharply.

check drag link joints and put a wrench on them steerin box bolt make shure there tight it'll flex a little but could be due to a few loose bolts also check your front cross member bolts, quick and easy. if all thats good and didn't find nothing else while you where down there jack up the front end and spin your wheels "make sure ya work safe use jack stands" check for excesive wheel bearing play on the side you heard the noise, next check your king pins just push on the top of your tire towards the engine. if you haven't found any play in any of the following check your stub axle u-joint for any play if you need any guidance for any of the following just pm me or post.
I checked everything out and I did not see anything that could be causing this. The frame and mounting bracket look good. I also tore apart another old steering box that was laying around and I could see no way that I would have reassembled it incorrectly. Oh well, for now I will just watch it and make sure that it doesn't get worse. The thing handles tightly, so there is really nothing else that is out of the ordinary. Thanks for the help, danstgen!
