gear box seal changed, now grabby

I replace the upper seal kit by the pitman shaft in my truck. I've taken it for a test drive and found that the steering is sticky. Seems like when the steering is in motion it's smooth but when I go to turn it grabs or sticks. Definately not like it was before. Also the gear box seems quite hot but not the lines to the pump and resevoir? Any ideas on what I screwed up?

cheers

So you disassembled the steering gearbox to replace the leaking seal?

Sounds like you need to go back readjust it during assembly.

Agreed. Check the adjustment. Some steering boxes have two adjustments. Be careful you don't adjust them too tight.
