Your antennas

Just a quick suggestion you can take it or leave it im really really big into CB equipment and so forth and am good buddies with the local tech that has been doing it for 30 years or so. I would reccomend running a magnet mount wilson 1000 or wilson 5000 if i were you. Running cophased or "Dual" antennas on a truck the size that ours are doesnt quite work. Reason being is that for cophased antennas to not interfere with one another they have to be about 8 feet apart or so. plus the fact you have so much antenna hidden behind the cab with the radiation pattern figured it it really really limits your forward RF and TX as well as hampers your over all performance. Just a suggestion any questions let me know.

Antenna

No i dont think you can get a wilson at a truck stop. To tell the truth most antennas at a truckstop are ok but not great. You can find em on craigs list all over or if you can find a cb radio shop near you I'm sure they could order one for you. You could also check thier website because i do believe they will ship them too you. If not check Ebay. a brand new one should run 80bux or so with everything absolutely ready to go. http://www.wilsonantenna.com/ Thats thier web url check out the site. I will also tell you when you get a new antenna you have to either get a shop to check your SWR's or you can get an SWR meter and do it yourself. They meters are fairly reasonable at radioshack. This is part of wilsons site as well its a pretty simple guide to help you check your SWRs http://www.wilsonantenna.com/tsswrg.htm. This guides steps will be usefull on all antennas other than wilson. I agree the dual antenna look, looks cool, but do you want your radio to work well? basically just ask yourself if you just want it to look cool more or work good. Also dont let some folks fool ya, a company K40 sells similar looking magnet mount antennas to wilsons but they are "NOWHERE" near the quality. Just trust me, if you get a good antenna you will enjoy your CB much better. If you get a cheap one and dont set your SWR's you can blow a final, or a trasistor. Thats gonna make you hear some but not be able to be heard or put out signal. AKA NOT GOOD LOL. any more questions just let me know. I enjoy helpin fellow CBers get setup and talkin.
