Carlisle PA. Mopar weekend of awesomeness

The big weekend is now less than 100 days out.

Hard for me to imagine the hottest weekend of the summer, while the snowbanks in my yard are still the size of cars.

This is giving everyone enough notice to have there chit ready.
Who is going to try and make it this year? What do you have to get done for the trip to happen?

Sounds like I will be able to check out BHD's Road Tractor in person. My MOPAR buddy from Long Island who is a big truck and Ramcharger guy, is saying he is bringing down a new build. He is not telling me what he is working on, so it will be a surprise for us at the show.

I want to weld up a removable 1/2 cab for my '76 Ramcharger, using a rotten out pop top, top I cut up 10 years ago. Once it warms up enough for me to want to weld outside, I want to get started on it.
I am thinking about making the 1000 mile round trip in the '76 Ramcharger, but it would be nice to at least have some protection if it rains over the long weekend. I do not really want to go to the show with the full hard top.

Yeah man. I got a hotel booked, where ever Island Bill is staying. The Road Tractor is getting more time with the trailer every week. It ain't no Rooster Cruiser but it does turn heads.

I expect an epic weekend will occur.

You know you could always build a roll cage into that RC and get a bikini soft top. The cage will help stiffen it up in case you decide to challenge "I Can't Believe It's Not Butter" in the road course!

Hotel is booked and application sent in.

I see a major problem if you bring the Ramcharger. Who will be keeping an eye on Island Bill so he does not get himself in trouble? This could be very very bad.

Good point oldmutt.

Island Bill is now freshly divorced.... Charlotte and I are thinking we might give him and whatever new chick he is bringing to the show a little extra "breathing room". Hopefully the '81-'93 truck section and the Ramcharger section are pretty close by each other.
This will be his 4TH year at the show, He should be safe for a few intervals without supervision...Haha

What is the worst that can happen? He wakes up from his afternoon nap, to an almost finished, now warm strawberry daiquiri and some fresh Sharpie tattoos again?
I hope BHD has his Sharpie doodling skills dialed in. I'll bring an extra marker or two.

I plan on being there with the 10 year build of my '89. Not sure my kid will have his Ramcharger back on the road by then.

DISLSMOKE,
Looks like you modified some stuff during the re-construction of the '89 Looking forward to checking it out at the show.

There are some parts I got from you a few years back on the truck, mainly to intercool it, that was way back when you had fueling issues coming to the show. I take it most of our trucks are in the Modified 4wd pre-94 class? Unless you bring a Pop-top or a Ramcharger or a 2wd.

I remember meeting you on Sunday after pulling an all nighter to make it to the show after my VE pump issues on the road in the black crew. I was pretty dazed from the long drive, into a day on the show field by the time we met.

Glad to see the parts where put to great use.

The past 3 years I have entered in the '81-'93 STOCK 4x4 truck class. Island Bill has parked with me in the same section for 3 years now. BHD was parked with us two shows ago. I know some of us might be pushing the envelope on what some people would call stock...But the modified class has some real crazy modified trucks. Things like the "1st gen Barbie" truck come to mind from two year ago.

I might wait until they post the car show map to make sure the Ramcharger section is in a decent spot. The past few years it has been by the rather large, women's oasis tent, the concession stands and the swap meet area. The only cars in the show near by where some turbo Horizons and the AMC section. Those spots where also smaller and you where parked on gravel rather than some grass.

Last year the 2wd and the 4x4 '81-'93 stock classes where right by each other and it was enjoyable hanging with other "truck people"
I will bring down something Cummins powered. I just register and pay, at the gate on Thursday, that way I am not keyholed into what rig to bring.

SOMEDAY I will join you guys there. Until then I'll have to just keep enjoying it from this computer. I was starting to consider retirement scenarios but My 401k has tanked since the election.

Take pics and be kind enough to share for what few folks are left on this forum to enjoy.

Cheers,

I would guess we are 5 weeks out on the Carlisle show.

You sure you can't fit in a long weekend off, there KRB?
Any other DTR'er planning on making the show?

Time for me to start getting a few of my summer to do list things...done, so I can enjoy the long weekend. Firewood comes to mind...lots of firewood.
Charlotte has a green light for a little extra time off of work, so I know at least the two of us are headed down. Island Bill sounded like girl problems had a very slim chance of effecting his show weekend.

BHD, let me know if you get your show field pack and it has the show field parking map. I am wondering where the RC will get parked this year.
The fresh Road Tractor, crew cab still going to make its debut at the show this year?

I am getting fired up for a big Mopar weekend.

Started making a prep list last week. Not too many things do so I will be good to go. I have been cleaning out the shed and I have a few items that I will be donating to the used parts section of your garage.
Last year I was up at 3:30 am on Friday then drove to the show and spent all day in the hot sun. By 3:30 pm I was ready to drop. This year I am driving out Thursday afternoon so I can rest up for Friday AM and hopefully my 80 year old body will last all day.
Everyone have a safe trip!

Smart plan to not try and fit it all into one day.
If you get in early enough on Thursday evening swing into the show field. I would not be surprised if Pat, his daughters, Charlotte and I where there watching Mopar themed movies. Last year we watched The Wraith in the mostly empty field. Basically Pat had about a dozen older movies with Mopar rigs in them. Things like The Vanishing Point, The Blues Brothers movie, Crazy Larry Dirty Mary, Duel, and a bunch of more obscure ones. Good way to kick back after a long day on the road.

Island Bill should be there as well with his candy cane colored, twin turbo’ed W250… unless he is with a chick that needs to drag him back to the hotel room ASAP.

Mannnnn, I'd show up a day early just to watch that happen.

Yes the Road Tractor is going to be there, barring some sort of problem it has between now and then. I'm still getting things cleaned up on it, I don't know how I expected to make it last year, but big dreams are never a bad thing.

I'll let you know about the locations of cars when I get that packet.

KRB, it's about time you make time. This show is definitely something to see. That being said, if I can get enough mad money together I would love to go to Moparty this year.

Oldmutt, we are planning on bringing a tent to keep us out of the sun and a few extra chairs for people that need a break, a beer and some friendly banter.

Hopefully NJTman and Mr Fusion will be amongst the crowd this year.

NJTman stopped by my shop with his wife Cathi last night for a visit. Sounds like they are planning on making the trip.
I would expect Mr Fusion to make it for more of the show this year. Last year this work schedule pooched his weekend
