Can't find anybody to work on my Getrag

What to do? I found one guy that said he would do it, but have been waiting a year on him to say he is ready. I know with the way he works if I took it to him now I would be lucky to have it back together by spring.

Any shop I call around the area say "sorry, those are not rebuildable".

I guess I am going to have to put it in a crate and send it somewhere, but where? I see Bluementhal down in Oklahoma City advertizes to have rebuilt ones and is around 500 miles from here.

I have already bought a bearing kit and some synchros from Standard Transmission over a year ago that are just sitting there.

Bring that transmission to Kentucky.

The guys that did mine can have it out in less than a week; and, probably, save you enough money to pay your trip.

Why not do it yourself? That's what I'm planning to do. The '93 FSM getrag section (available in .pdf format for the asking) should pretty well cover it.

Andy, My shop here in Salina, KS will rebuild it. Tinks Auto and 4X4 has done mine a couple times. 785- 827-6204. Although the folks at Blumenthals are good people their Getrag rebuilds flat are junk. I went through 6 in 90 days and the high gear went out on everyone within 750-1000 miles. It has to do with the aftermarket hard parts they used. They finally used OEM parts from Dodge and put them in and the trans has been great ever since. So unless they switched vendors Id stay away.

Thanks! I lived in Salina for 6 years, didn't think of them though. Just 80 miles down the road from here.

Called and talked to him and he seemed to know the trans well. He knew who you were.

Now I just gotta crawl under the truck and get it outa there.
