Can the VE pump be turned up too much
I turned the bugger up some 5 turns on the full fuel screw, found the point that runaway occured when i stabbed the pedal to the floor, then backed off 3/4th turn, till the idle dropped pretty quick, then adjusted the low idle way back to get it to idle at about 1k, this is an 89 non IC truck,
Now i am pushing 40 lbs boost from the lil h1c,
Does all this sound normal???
I have the starwheel at 1.5 turns in, SHould i back it off some? I can hit 40 lbs in 3rd with just a short stab of the go pedal.
What will a bump in timing do?
Will i still get a good cold start in 20* weather?
Will i get more power?
What are my options?

Sounds like you need to advance the timing. That will lower your boost and EGT.
Set the star wheel wherever you like. It's good for fine-tuning spool-up and smoke. The tighter you make it, the more boost is needed to move the AFC cone. If you have a lot of smoke at low boost, try tightening it up some. If it's doggy until you hit 10 psi, loosen it up. Bump the timing first, as that will hurt the spoolup a little.
It will start fine.
More advance will add more power.

Advancing the timing will put the fuel in the cylinder earlier. More of it will burn, and more efficiently turn into power, meaning there will be less energy (heat) to drive the turbo. Basically, more of the fuel is being turned into power and less into heat in the exhaust.
