Is there a way to jump the wireing to test to see if it actually works. Thanks

There is a low pressure switch near the expansion valve at the passenger side firewall. If you jumper that and the compressor kicks in then you probably need to have the system recharged.

Don't run it to long as you could damage the compressor if there is no oil.
