A/C Question...

ok so i just picked up a new (to me) 1993 w250 nv4500 reg cab truck. drove it home approx 2300 miles so i can say that i trust the truck . anyways the a/c doesn't work and i figured out why today... the two wires that run to the compressor to engauge the clutch have been ripped out... the fan belt had the last "notch" tear off and i have a feeling that a little "whip" swung around and ripped the wires out so i found them wrapped around the front of the compressor... my question is, can this be fixed easily without having to buy a new compressor to the tune of approx $350-$400 bucks, or a used one from a salvage yard for somewhere around $100-$175. i'd rather not pull it off the truck since i have never used filled an empty system (local autozone does rent the vacuum pump) but if it cannot be fixed otherwise i have no choice... any help you can give is much appreciated as always. thanks
mark

Is there enough sticking out to butt them back together? Basically it is just a wire to energize the electric clutch that sounds like got ripped out.

If it is not sticking out IIRC you can pull the clutch without loosing the charge in the system.
