The A/C clutch bearing on my 93 is in need of replacement, but I'm being told replacing the bearing is not a good idea, since the clutch itself is most likely in need of replacement as well. Only thing is, the clutch assembly does not seem to be available, so it looks like I'm going to be replacing the compressor.

Any suggestions?

I'd look at the cost- the clutch can be re-shimmed. I didn't think clutch assys were expensive.
I've got an extra NOS compressor assy =made in the USA, Sanden compressor w/ mineral oil.

Reshimming the clutch will not do anything to fix the bearing. In the meantime, I was able to get the clutch apart and find a replacement bearing. In fact, I have 2 coming, one from US bearing directly from KOYO and one from bearingsdirect.com.

I wanted to avoid replacing the compressor since my system is still R-12 and working fine.
