buying new rims, need to know back spacing......

I am looking to buy new rims and tires but need to know what backspacing to look for. I HATE the way the stock rims sit several inches inside the fender. I want rims to sit about flush with the fenders.

Also, any suggestions on nice rims and tires for a 2wd? I was thinking bigger than 16's but most places only carry 20's. I want it to look "sporty" somewhat. Pics would be nice too.

Stock are 0 offset wheels. There's nothing I could find available in a heavy duty aftermarket to increase the offset, short of custom made steelies. 1.25" adapers will put the sidewall about flush with the edge of the fenders on 8" 0 offset wheels. Helps clearing taller tires on the front for full lock turning too.

That's what I was shooting for with this combo - 17x8 Alcoa classics with 1.25" adapters:

offset (another way to look at backspacing, depending on the vehicle, wheel width and what you are trying to do with it) affects tire clearance in several ways. It will generally reduce clearance at the fender corners, so yes that can become an issue with taller tires. But it's the only way to push the sidewall much further out, unless you are talking about crazy 10 or 12 inch wide wheels.

i picked up the ultras 164 styles with 285/75/16 on. if i ever have to buy again i will go 17 rim ... you still have to be careful with what you use considering yours is 2 wheel drive you may be very limited to what you put on

they may but for nearly the same price I could get aftermarket. Plus I need a tire in the rear that gets some traction, not so much looking for tires to run 80k miles.

That is where I got em'... It says the backspacing is 6.18... That is strange because when I got them I am positive they were 5.5"... I know I took the ones off my 06 which are moto metals with 4.5" of backspaicing and they stuck out like a ****!!.. I am definatly happy with the less off set...

i have raceline black whls. 18x10 in back w 3.25x60s. 16x8 in front w 2.65x75s . they are flush w the fenderwells in back and no turning issues in front. the 18s have 5" of backspace. 4wd lowered abt 3". almost 2wd height. 3.25s are 33x12.5. [12.5 is measured across the sidewalls like all the street tires]speedo is slow 7 mph all the way. hope it helps. kind of a treasure hunt. tc
