budget gauges
budget gauges
Here is a write up of my super cheap and easy boost gauge in my 1st gen by using little to no money at all. I already had a manifold pressure gauge out of a 81 peterbuilt ( you can find theses for almost nothing in semi bone yards. It reads to 30psi which is all you need if your running a stock turbo like I am.

I then found some 1/4 OD air line that I had laying around and again not very expensive stuff either.

I coupled the line to a 1/8 npt fitting and threaded it into the ready-made 1/8 npt hole on the driver side of the head. Just remove the factory plug.

Once you got it connected just feed you air line threw the ready-made hole in the firewall.

And up to where you want to mount you gauge. I'm going to mount a piller pod.

There are cleaner ways to connecting it to the back of the gauge I just used what was laying around. But I am tickled with the results for just a spontaneous idea. I'm gonna do a pyrometer next.
