Brake Pedal Too High

The brake pedal in my 91.5 is too high off the floor. It is higher than any other trucks i have driven and you have to conciously lift your whole leg to get your foot up from the gas to the brake. Often I hook my toe under the pedal.

Is there a fix for this? I can't remember if the rod between the booster and the pedal is adjusable. Thanks.

The problem is not with the travel. It is just too high. My knee is into the steering wheel before my foot is on the brake.

Nope. I did set my clutch pedal lower when I had to fix the pushrod though.

i was thinking about cutting the head off and shortening the rod and weld it back together... didn't notice any sort of adjustment.

Seems to be chronic with dodge trucks... my 78 is bad too but not as bad. maybe because there is just way more room in that truck. mine is terrible... i was thinking of making a new pedal assembly just for that reason...

The 93 is HORRIBLE, its got brand new properly adjusted brakes all around, that could be the problem.

with the 2nd gen seat, your knee NEARLY hits the wheel when you go for the brake,

it actually comes up so high it bent the "brake light switch" bracket back...

Mine is the same way. When I took it for the test drive I thought it was odd and slightly uncomfortable, and no where close to the pedal height on any other '73-'93 trucks I've owned. Changing the pedal assembly when I swapped trannies didn't help either, I guess I am just used to it after 5 years.

My 91 with a manual is way high, but my 92 with thw auto is just right. Interesting.
Yah, I hang the side of my boot on the edge of the peddle from time to time also.

I am thinking of slipping some shims between the booster and firewall. I can't think of a down-side to it. Any ideas?

My 92 manual is about right, but the 93 auto is really high.

Mine was too high until I traded boosters. The new booster to master cylinder shaft was a little shorter and I didn't bother adjusting it to the same length as the old one. Worked out pretty good. I do need to keep an eye on the brake light switch adjustment. It is all the way towards the pedal arm. If it slips just one thread the brake lights stay on.
