Brake Issue
Brake Issue
Son's boss bought him a 1991 Dodge 1 ton Diesel for a farm work truck. When he picked it up it had almost no brakes at all. I tore it down. Rear brakes where really bad. Replaced both cylinders, seals, shoes. Front were not bad. Master cylinder was leaking a bit so I replaced it also. Bled and adjusted everything. On test drive, pedal on the first push goes almost
all the way to the floor and just barely engages front brakes if you pump the pedal once on the second press everything works great..
Do I still have air in the lines? or is the booster bad also? any advise greatly appreciated

Welcome to the board! This problem is very common. To answer your questions, yes and yes. Do a search about adjusting and bleeding the rears, there are real good threads on this. You booster being bad will cause a hard pedal, not a soft one, good luck...Mark
Sounds like you have air in the lines. Best thing to do is loosen the bleeder screw as a helper pumps on the brake pedal for you. If you're a one man show then loosen the brake nipple and wait until you have a nice steady flow. Gravity will help you.
