You could just rebuild it and use a steel piston. I think my kits and pistons were not $20 total.

no slider pins on a d250, d350. Sliding are just make sure there are not any burs. Rebuild caliper housing usually are beat up.

I tried rebuilding brake cylinders for drum brakes in the past. They leaked after a couple of months. IMHO getting a new one with a guarantee is worth the extra money. ITOH if you can't find one then rebuilding is an option. The bore has to be polished very well and if there are pits that can't be polished out then it's either re-bore to the next larger size or scrap it.

Samiam- where did you source rebuild kits with steel Pistons for our calipers? I read your comments before about your steel pistons, just curious as to where you bought the parts.

Ain't medical terms fun! IOW I could have had a problem with my endoplasmic reticulum.
I hate it when that happens...Mark

You buy the kit separate from pistons. I got my stuff at rock.

I was just on Oriley's site. They have Brake Best brand reman's, with steel Pistons in place. Was this a change for the better? I notice the ones for the 4500 lb axles come with steel Pistons, and the lesser rated axles come with either steel or phenolic Pistons.

Not bad a price, at around $30/caliper. Is that the going rate for a reman, and buyer beware, or are reman calipers not bad at all? Calipers 101

Go steel.

Dodge had a builtin out to replace the pistons with steel if they are sticking.
I didn't see reman with steel pistons when I did mine.
