Blown HG :(
well im a kid so i like to hammer on it. I hit 45 psi at least 4 times a day for the past 6 months every day. 50psi about 20 times total. I held it there for about 5-12 seconds at a time
so when it blew you were only holdin it for about 12 seconds tops?
dang i better be careful...
Ha ha nick I am thinkin the same thing... I'm pushin 40 right now and we'll see what this new turbo pushes, I'm not sure what will go first, my head gasket or tranny...

I'm thinking both of mine are one their way... but are holding on like they're drunk and think they're about to fall off the earth....
Did you notice anything else before you blew the truck up???

Yes, my pyro started acting up. ( I have no idea why) and my trusty Ole steed had a miss to it also. Like one cylinder was coming up on compression while the other was exhausting and it had a bad miss. Well see if the Hg makes that issue go away.
The longest i held 50psi was for 15.07 seconds

i'm surprised it held that long. it's only a matter of time before 40+ psi makes you say goodbye to the HG. some are luckier than others. if/when i get within 5psi of 40psi, studs will get put in.
yes you do. wastegates are a BIG help!! a blown headgasket is, not to mention costly, but a time consuming project.
if you have enough fuel to even spool the A5K, the headgasket will go first. the tranny, as you already know, is already one it's way out and probably won't last much longer after the HG gets replaced.

Just called PDR. Right around 400-450 if i pull the head send it to them, they will resurface, mag the head, and install the orings. Im really thinking about this one long and hard.
I would check on Source also, since they are a lot closer to you. For what you plan on doing with that pickup, it makes no sense to put the head back on without having it o-ringed. Good luck.
