Bilstein 5100 part #

I put this set of spring on my truck http://www.customsuspension.com/stor...51bbad23bc9471

So I go to the Bilstein web site and it comes back with no shocks for this truck.

I know thats wrong.

I would measure from upper mount to lower mount to determine shock length then compare from a Bilstein vendor site...example eshocks.com on use of shocks for lifted Dodge trucks.

Make sure you have matched the correct shock mount to shock then order away.

This is a canadian website but it shows some basic part numbers. Be sure to double check the numers with bilstein website as i think there is some variances on the lift amount.

http://www.bilsteincanada.com/index....2882_2935_2970

I used these in the front with my 2'' lift:

5100 Series (BE5-A463) 0"-2.5" Lift Front/Rear (33-186542)

I had to use different ones for the rear though.

Got the shocks today they dont fit

http://www.4wheelparts.com/Lift-Kits...2f2.5+in.+Lift

Bilstein P# 33-186542 **5125 series**

Front shocks

The bushing opening on these are tight 5/8'' sloppy 9/16''

The shock mounts (bolts) on my truck are 11/16''

I can get the bushing over the bolt but you cant get the shock over the bushing. Too much growth.

I ended up ordering these http://www.summitracing.com/parts/bsn-98108g/overview/ hopefully these will remedy the issue.

Rears I have no idea I haven't touched them yet.

I had to fight to get them on, some grease and a hammer made short work of it.

Put the bushing and shock on as one, its easier that way if i remember correctly.

If I was to grease them and use a pry bar, hammer, what ever it takes, but It wont fit to my satisfaction.

When things dont fit I get out my measuring tools.

I dont know what the Shock mount bolt OD is on your truck.

The old shocks bushing measure 11/16 http://catalog.monroe.com/catalogPar...dStatus=ACTIVE

I ordered that 3/4 ID bushing from summit and make a sleeve to make my shock mount bolt fit the bushing.

worse goes to worse I'll swap out the ends off the shocks. Cut & weld.

Thank you for the part number the shocks. They do fit the springs.

Like everything else most after market manufacturers don't make parts for these trucks we have to refab them to make them fit.

Ya they are a generic shock for dodge trucks, most likely for the newer ones i am guessing with a different stud size. I know all about aftermarket headaches, as you probably remember from my crossover steering fiasco, lol!

what did you do, how did you do,=====Rear shocks

At this point I'm thinking sending the bilsteins back and leaving the old one alone.

I'm wondering how many people put the shocks on the wrong way.

The shocks i used on the front were too short for the rear. I ended up using these i think:

5100 Series (BE5-6249-H5) 5"-6" Lift Rear (33-185569)

I had to measure stud-stud and compared bilsteins website specs for the shocks on the website i posted earlier and the "569 fit the best.

I argued with essex about what they say will fit and they didnt care, so the measurement tools came out and i figured it out myself. Good old aftermarket at its best.

I also used grease and hammer on the rears, the bushings are a tight fit. Start with the top first.

Please keep us updated on how those springs ride, i am curious. I might try them over my Alcans although i found my rear springs ride rougher than the front now, might have something to do with my airbags. I am going to pull the airbags and see how things feel then.
