bht3b ??
bht3b ??
So I have a garrett bht3b turbo with a 26 cm housing that I plan to use for a twins setup later on. I found a 22cm holset housing. I have been keeping an eye out for one as I think I will want the best spoolup I can get with it. Does anyone know if the housings are interchangeable between holset, garrett and schwitzer? Don't want to buy the holset housing if it won't fit my garrett turbo. Thanks
I asked the same questions about 1 year ago. I never got a 100% answer, but I don't think it will work. I do not know for sure though.
Judging from the set I put together(27cm divided holset ht3b w/ 60mm H1C w/ ported 12cm.) you really don't need that tight of a hot side on the primary. It would push 30-35 psi out of the bigun', and 60-65 overall with stock non-ic sticks. Now with the 6x16's its like 70 total and the primary gauge is buried (it is only a 35 psi gauge). It is a 5sd too. The AFC lever is pulled out, so you can put out the fire if you want. With some AFC tuning I think the 26 would be fine. If you get it going and decide you want a smaller housing it is pretty easy to change.
The hot pipe on mine is longer than the average setup. I really don't think you will notice any difference in the spool up. I left it 3" though, that probably helped. At the speed the exhaust is traveling, I really don't see it cooling off enough to really notice. Especially once the pipes are up to temp.
One thing I am not sure is weather a non-divided and divided housing will act the same. Most say that the 26 non-divided is the best housing.
Here is what I did:

I got a call back from HTT turbo, they said they are not interchangeable between the two different brands. Swchitzer, Garrett and Holset are all just a little different and the parts don't mingle with each other.... Thanks captainchrysler.
