Question "Baffle" material?

The thick black flexible material that is clipped to the top of the radiator and runs over the top of the fan shroud -- what is it called and where can I source a large piece of it? It seems the stuff is used by all auto manufacturers to close gaps around fender wells, etc.

The Mopar parts catalog calls the OEM piece a "Baffle" (part number 5200 4926). But it is obsolete and my Dodge dealer's computer shows no more inventory remaining in the US. Mine is torn and I would like to replace it.

TIA.

If you have tools to work it, a large truck mud flap is pretty close, material wise. Plain ones are pretty cheap to boot.

Agreed, but unfortunately that piece covering the gap between the radiator and the shroud is about 4 feet long and 6 inches wide -- not mudflap shaped.

Contact some of your local commercial roofing contractors and ask them if they have any remnant pieces left of rubber roofing material.

Around here there's a place called Rubber Specialties, basically is a place that sells conveyor belts rubber hoses and things of that nature. Another possible source would be to go to a commercial tire company and get the rubber seal that protects an inner tube. It won't look as pretty but should do the job. Another source would be someplace that uses conveyor belts. You could most probably talk them out of a piece. Of course you can always go to a junkyard I don't know but I would guess that all of our trucks have one whether they are gas or diesel. And as a last resort possibly the rubber edging for a flower bed. Just my two cents, Mike.
