Backing Plate for 12 cm Housing

I have located a 12cm exhaust housing, but the owner cannot find the needed backing plate. Any ideas where I can pick one up cheap? I have called some local shops and put some "feelers" out with no luck. Any help/direction would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Jeff

How about an HTT Stage IV upgrade with the included machined backplate?

Seriously though, not sure how much these other parts would cost you, but the HTT upgrade is only $285 (and you get the much bigger 60mm compressor!).

Where do you get this upgrade for $285? Could you give me a link?

With some $325 injectors that would be a hell of a setup for real cheap!

I think Chass is talking about the backing plate on the exhaust housing (the one with the flange for the v-band clamp). I had the same problem and put out a wanted ad for it. Unfortunately I still have to get a way for the wastegate to work since my housing is from a 24v.

The $285 HTT Stage IV kit is available from www.htturbo.com.

D'Oh! You're right.

Chass, HTT's website is www.HTTurbo.com. The Stage III is only $200 and changing the backplate is not needed! You want to look under compressor upgrades I think.

So, I'm still trying to wrap my head around this.

What will "HTT Stage III upgrade compressor housing and 60 mm wheel" do that the 12 cm exhaust housing won't do?

Or is this just an alternative? If I understand correctly, this changes the ratio just the same as the 12 or 14 cm exhaust housing does right?

So you wouldn't want to do the 12 cm and one of these 60mm compressors because it would push more air in but cause too much back pressure on your exhaust side? It would spool up quick though right(I understand that it is a no no )?

So would the 16 cm exhaust and the 60mm compressor be a better match? You could do that for around $350 to $400.

I've read that the 12cm exhaust housing is such a good upgrade but now that I see the inexpensive options from HTT, I want to understand what they do for you better because it sounds like a pretty good deal.

Just trying to understand the compressor changes. Thanks for any input you can provide.

Are you talking about the 4 bolts and plates that hold the ex housing to the turbo or the ex.outlet that has like,5or6 small bolts that cover the waste gate lever and valve?

Man, you guys got Chass all confused. Chass, did Gman07 clear up your confusion in his PM?

Jeff, I think a turbo shop like HTT is your best bet. I'm sure they get cores in with cracked turbine housings from time to time, all you have to do is persuade them to sell/give you a junk housing and then you can scavenge the backplate off it.

Cummins can probably get it, but I imagine the price is frightening. It's worth checking on.

Wanna, you are right!! I went back and read through the post, and I was confused myself! I needed the plate that holds the DP to the exhaust housing with the wastegate. I was able to find one at HTT. Thanks for pointing me in that direction. They never crossed my mind.

Chass - I am sorry I got this post all messed up. I am new to the site, but I can gurantee that if you still have a question these guys are here to lend a helping hand.

Thanks to All!
