Did thay change the adapter style or did adapter get sunk in farther or shallow, change the depth of the probe?

Also, check your ground and power connections on the slow one. My Autometer pyro moves faster than the tach!

pape, i've use the z-series for everything i have and like the fact that it matches the oem gauges almost perfecly, i am not looking for another pyro, just trying to figure out why this one is acting differently. if there is something wrong with the gauge itself,i will take it up with autometer, i just want to make sure it's not something i did wrong with installation.

OH that makes sense.
Well I know that sometimes you get an updated version or maby the one you most recenty aquired is an inferior model. I know Dipricol's old models are slower to react than the new ones. May be the case here? Have you checked model #'s? if they are different that may be the reason for slower response. In that case nothing is wrong at all.

Like jurssell said, make positive(and negative )that all your conection are clean and tight.

Make shore you voltage to the pyro guage, and battery voltage is the same,if the voltage is lower for the guage...the probem might be in the the truck if not sounds like a call to autometer is in store.

I gess it could be that the heat is just a little slower comeing one due to the tention of the afc spring.
dus you boost, from the boost guage, come on slower allso on this truck?
Maybe have lower boost?(less fuel/heat?)

My first Autometer boost gauge was defective and had to be returned. The needle was very "sticky" and this caused it to move much slower than normal. It also wouldn't go past 15psi or so even though the truck was making about 21psi at the time.

If all else fails, give Autometer a call and they will probably ask you to return it or send it back to them. I was able to get mine replaced by 4-Wheel Parts so I didn't have to deal with Autometer or shipping it back.

My Isspro probe and Hypermax pyro gauge will move from 300 to over 1500 in a flash.

I have driven several big trucks that the pyro moved so slow, and so little, that it was forgotten about.

Probably a stupid question, but are both of these installed pre-turbo?

Interesting that this came up. I just installed my pryo and I can barely get it above 900 (pre turbo) and it moves slower than death. Guess I'll give them a call soon.

I shall now demonstrate my amazing knowledge of the subject (which cannot possibly be barking up the wrong tree in any way):

One truck is a manual, one is an auto. Uneven loading of the engine.

Did I come close to a possible answer?

begle that is something that i was wondering... but the 5-speed has more fuel and more load.... shouldn't the egt's jump faster on that? both of them are Pre turbo. i think i will give autometer a call and see what they have to say?
