auto trans fluid level

i am about to change out the trans fluid in my 93 w250 and i was just wondering if a deep pan will affect the fluid level the dipstick reads? i don't know how much extra the pan holds because it was on the truck when i got it. but it is deeper than a stock one. Also is ATF+4 ok to use in it?

thanks

The reading of the dipstick does not change with a deeper pan. The +4 fluid is fine to use.

Most of the deep pans add about 2 qts.

Fil it up, did the filter have an aluminum spacer behind it by chance?

stock a518 calls for 4.5 deep pan will proab call for 6 or 7 start with 6. check the level on the dip stick in neutral while running it needs to be at the same mark where it reads *safe*
