RonA, what do you consider 'good' rotors? I'm going to be replacing all my brakes in the next few months and would like to know what's what as well. Rockauto have some good prices, but are they the best products? (Raybestos/Wagner.)

SSBC sells slotted and drilled rotors for the 1st gens but you'll pay $150 each for them. Nothing as far as calipers but they also have replacement pads.

Absolutely nothing wrong with me. I asked about better rotors and calipers for first gens and I should have asked about dual piston caliper conversions or something along those lines. I asked the wrong question and there will be the usual posts about the usual stock replacement parts. I deleted my comments. You guys can re-direct it and find out whatever you want.

Well then I apologise. I'd love to get my hands on a set of dual piston's, but, like you, have not come across anything. Like I said in a recent post, if I'm increasing my 'go' power, I want to increase my 'stop' power too. Someone told me our trucks are overpowered in the braking department. I don't think there is such a thing, especially for someone like you who'se got 993 HP. (Fantastic number by the way! )

Finally got this figured out. The fix is available but it requires some tweaking. Should be ready in about a week.

Ron, you find something Dodge specific or you rigging something custom like from a Powerstrokes front calipers. Just did a brake job on Dad's Powerstroke and I was amazed how nice the brakes felt. And how simple they were (with the pins vs the slides, etc).

hey-Hey!!!,
Add me to the list ov folks looking for a bigger front brake option. Seems dual pistons are the way; the single is about as big as I think is reasonable. Did anything that could be put in come from Dodge?
cheers,
Douglas

I found a place a short distance from me that knows quite a bit about the different Dana 60's. He is going to remove some of the Dodge stuff and replace it with Ford stuff. When done it will have early 90's dual piston Ford calipers and rotors. I will try to make a list of parts that are needed and any additional mods. I already have the GM hydro-boost unit so hopefully this will work well.

Chevy used the same brakes on the D60 and any 2wd 1-ton.... but with hydroboost brakes. Huge difference. Teeth marks in my steering wheel and everything.

IMO, Ford D60 brakes (78-94) aren't worth changing to. Pads don't like to wear evenly, and the rotors crack easier (1.25" thick, not 1.5").

Are you saying Chevy uses the same brakes on the Dana 60 as the first gen Dodge and they work better because of the hydroboost unit?
