anyone painted their dash?
ebteckx: I'm unsure i could look, and it does fly off when old people slam the breaks on at yellow lights
I need to cut two slots and strap it down with the center seat belt. It looks like a typical pepboys or atuozone console.
95ram: i never tried using the adhesive promoter...im too cheap. but i have tried nearly every type of primer, and it does usually peels off the vinal and plastics. plus it also scratches very easily and Its not flexible. where as the vinal and plastic specific paints are extremely flexible and are very durable. I did my arm rests and bottom of the door panels with the vinal paint and they are always used and kicked and the marks just wipe off with your hands. Did the entire emerald green interior of the torino with plastic and vinal paint/dye and it looks brand new.
Smokems: idk about you but it took me 5 or 6 (after searching for the 5 rattle cans all the same color) To remove all trim and door panels then scrub, clean, use wax remover and degreaser, rinse, tape, mask, cover, wrap and wipe down with wax n grease remover. After all that i finally paint, with 10 to 20 minutes dry times between light coats did about 3 coats on trim and 5 on the dash and door panels. THIN COATS
The first few don't look good but they aren't supposed to, they're just the base coats. Don't worry it will look good by the 3rd or 4th just as long as you don't go too heavy and create runs. One run will ruin your day if you try to fix it. Let it dry! deal with it later, if you try to fix it you'll have an even worse problem on your hands.
Also wear rubber gloves, the oils in your fingers will get on the pieces and the paint won't stick to that area. It will either peel or look like a painted fingerprint. Depends on how greasy you are

Alright i finally got around to takin some pics of mine. After a lot of taping and a can of red Plastic paint here it is. I painted it a few weeks ago so it was pretty cold and the paint was pretty runny, so the tape didn't leave a clean edge on some parts, so i have a little scraping to do, but I like it. Sorry the interior is a little dirty. oh and i also painted the needles in my gauges red too with a red paint marker i had.

oh taping was the most fun of the project huh?!
lol i like how the bezels look on your pillar gauges and the red needles in the stock gauges look good. they'd look really good with a set of those white faced decals and some LED lighting.

So how much do you want to sell your gauge cluster for Blacky!? That looks sweet. Now I have to do that to my red truck. lol I am obsessed with color-matching, or maybe just red. lol Looks Awesome!
yeah the taping took quite a while and it took quite a bit of tape... but i think it was worth it. I thought about goin with the white face gauge stickers but i kinda want to keep my regular gauges match my isspro gauges with the white letters and black background. But i might go with some LED lighting down the road...
I like to add the red accents on my truck too Schamran, i think it looks good with my black truck, i like to add some red, but not too much. I have a little bright green though too, like under my hood and I have green lighting in all my gauges, so my colors are black with some red and a lil green and i like it.
I guess we all have our own favorite colors, and a can of spray paint is one of my best friends

yeah i would wait til summer, cuz i painted mine a little too cold and the paint was runny and didn't turn out quite as good.
My 4x4 thing is painted red too but its all scratched up so i gotta repaint it.

Nick (JustRamIt), You worked on the headliner yet ??
All my dad and I did with the console was wrap the middle seat belt around it. It never slipped off or anything

i'm getting to it... i smoothed it a little with some big metal screen. Its too cold for anything to mold rather than stick to it. yeah, for the console, the best way to describe it is that i have it like a baby seat would be strapped in.
