anyone painted their dash?

So i was thinkin about paintin my dash. Just pullin it out and paintin over the wood grain. I was thinkin of paintin it either red, black or grey, and only paintin where the wood grain is, and leave the black around the edges. I have painted the bezels on my isspro gauges red so i kind of want to match that but don't wanna make it look dumb. Has anyone painted their dash and got rid of the wood grain look? post some pics if you have, thanks

Well, I painted My dashboard. Not the bezel piece your talking about. But the whole darn dash. from red to grey. turned out good. Just wish I would have took my time and did a few more coats. it was haed to cover red.

i painted over my wood grain and left the edges black. if you don't have patience/attention to detail, you'll give up on taping. i spent a couple of hours making sure i covered what i wanted. i didn't really think too hard about a color. just went digging through my collection of cans. i used a silver aluminum color. then i pulled all the tape and clear coated the whole thing. looks pretty good i think...

jimbo486, that was a pretty cool idea. It reminds me of the chevy style dash of the 80's. I think I'm gonna give it a shot.

There's a kit available on ebay. They're decals. Just make sure it is for a 91-93, not an 89-90

Hey both those look pretty good.

Jimbo i like that, it does look a lot like the old chevs, My buddy has an 80 chev that he painted the gauge bezels white like that, and it looks a lot the same

Smokems that does look good, I think i'm gonna go with the red like yours. My truck is black that i have added a lot of red accents, its a lot like your truck. I think i'll go with red and leave the black around the edges, And keep my gauges black faced to match my isspros.

I have the patience to tape and paint, My grille inserts took quite a while to tape and "shadow paint" them red, but now if i paint this it will match my grille and some other stuff.

You guys remind me of ricers that like to paint interior pieces, but to each his own. The results looks about the same though.

its not any different than buying aftermarket dash pieces, its just cheaper. Now if i was painting my whole entire dash a very bright color, then that would look like a ricer, but I think these accents will look good.
