Anyone have wiring diagram of fuel sending unit?
Hello all,
I am trying to figure out what wires on the fuel sending unit in the fuel tank go to what..
the connector has 4 wires coming off of it..
2 of the wires are connected together into one.. so I am guessign that is ground..
then there are 2 other wires..
I am guesing 1 is low fuel light and the other is the guage level..
anyone have any ideas?
I am trying to connect these wires to a 1985 1st Gen that used to be gas.. so I need to figure out which goes to what..
Thanks

I just asked this a month or two ago. I remember that the two wires that come together are the ground. Do a search of my posts and you should find it. Let me know how well yours works when your done. One is low fuel and the other is for the gauge.

If you hold the connector vertically with the little tit on the right side :
top = Fuel Pump
next = Input to gauge
blank
2nd from bottom = sending unit ground
bottom = Fuel pump ground
The low fuel indicator is located in the aux lights section where the Cummins logo is -
it is a small printed circuit that watches the voltage on the fuel gauge, and when it drops below a certain point the PC lights the low fuel lamp.
Supposed to come on at ~ 1/6th tank.

The above description from Unixcowboy I believe is for electronic fuel injection (gas) engines.
According to the wiring diagram in the shop manual for the diesel fuel tank system:
Holding the connector with the tit on the right:
Top: (Dark Green/Black): Low Level Switch (indicator light)
Second From Top: (Dark Blue/Yellow): Level indicator
Bottom two wires (Grey/black & Black): Ground
