Any VE's not liking the ULSD?
Last week I was in a meeting with CAT and this came up, as of last week, the sulphur level was 70ppm. They started sending it down the pipeline a couple of months ago, however, due to all of the old diesel being in the lines, what comes out is higher than 5ppm.
The pipeline from Houston to Denver a couple of months ago was sent 5ppm diesel down it. When it got to its destination, it was over 2500ppm. Its just a gradually lessening of the ppm in order to achieve the 5ppm max.

Oops, my bad. That was a different forum that has a rule against non-sponsor links.

I was under the impression that the veggie-oil and seals problems could be fixed by replacing the stock seals with newer (synthetic) ones? Considering that my entire way around the ULSD-panic was to run veggie oil, that'd be kind of ironic.

Mine also doesn't idle exactly right before it's warmed up. It isn't really rough, it just sounds like it misses occasionally. That, and it hazes a bit, even on a warm day before it's up to operating temp. I try to run PS every tank, but I also forgot a lot this summer. I may just have to switch to an engine oil-lubed pump if this one quits
I just looked at your link for ulsd and looks like california is already down to 15ppm. I have been noticing (and trying to ignore) the racket coming out of my VE that I hear when coming off hte freeway and idling around. We'll see how long it holds out. It has 215,000 miles and no rebuild.
Ya i was trying to put some high light of it out there but didn't realize i was being a vary bad boy

One look at the signatures on this site and it's pretty easy to figure out
Sorry for hijacking. I don't think they would lower sulfur without adding some type of lubricant, or there would be a lot of dead pumps and a lot of unhappy people.
