Am I missing something????

Ok, first off I am not bashing others. I work for a living and not even my wife is allowed to tell me what I can or cant buy. Today after carrying in two ton of wood pellets for my parents. I went home to check on a first gen factory tach that I have been watching on Flebay. Now I am not in the need for one as I have one in my RC and an Ispro in my dually. Not to mention I recently aquired one in a donor truck I bought back in Nov. But I cant help but keep an eye for them when they come up for sale. Well I have purchased 6 or 7 of these over the last couple yrs and the most I have ever paid was $175 shipped to my door. I have seen a couple sell in the $300 range. Today I was shocked to see one on Ebay sell for $721.11. I have paid top dollar for some rare items but this one has me beat. Am I missing something???

I love my Isspro 5503. Perfect size. The factory tach is just too big for me, but there's an *** for every seat, so if you can get $700 for it, I'd sell them all day....

If someone wants something bad enough, and is willing to bid back and forth for it, then it just shows how much someone really wants it, and not it's actual value.

Flatbed it did sell for that. The thing that shocks me is there was atleast two people bidding it up that high. Like I wrote before I spend money if I want it bad enough but eventually common sense kicks in.

some people don't have common sense. Some sellers just get lucky and that moron bids on their items. I'd guess half the time people who end up paying that much for something that isn't worth as much as they paid, they refuse to actually pay for the item.

Then again, maybe they do want it that bad...

WOW....That is a ridiculous price!! I have wanted some stuff pretty bad on E-pay...but I set a limit for myself. If it goes over oh well....chances are another will come along sometime.

Just watch now, in then next week or two there will be about a half dozen of these for sale. Guys hoping to snag another $700. Most will have a reserve of $500 or more no doubt.

Wouldn't be shocked if it was some if the posters buddies bidding it up like that... keep track of the names that listed/ bid I'm sure it will be for sale again soon...

Also this is the reason certain things are so pricey, one person gets a ton more money for something then its worth so then everyone starts asking for insane amounts...

I must of missed something too. I also had it bookmarked because I have seen others go for stupid money but this one takes the cake. You can buy a very nice Autometer diesel mini tach for $125 and they work very well. I could see a price like that if it was for a old rolls or something.

Flatbed I got one I will let go for $649, sorry charlie
This could be a buddy bidding it up but anyone with common sense would have stopped way before $700 and let the other guy have it. Now the seller has to pay for the listing and the .3% of the selling price. If it was the seller bidding it up I think they would have stopped way before where it ended. Just ridiculous. They are rare but not that rare. I hope it works, LOL. No where in the listing does the seller garrantee it to work.

I bought a truck in California recently with a bad engine, that has the dealer available tach installed (These were NOT a factory installed part!) in it.
Had a member on here go pick the truck up and he told me that the guy had pulled the tach, to which I replied:

"Take the truck back and get the money back, the tach was most of the reason I bought that truck with a dead engine!"

The tach is in it and it still works and the truck is totally rust free with a 5 speed.

We had "fun" replacing the engine (Out IN CA!), only to find the replacement engine has a ton of blowby, but it made it home on ONLY 12 GALLONS of oil.

"Fill the oil and check the fuel, please?"

Mark.

I don't think that is un-common. I was bidding on a set of Dodge RAM decals that go into the side fender. I was the only bidder and I was asking about $35 for the set. They were in nice shape, the last day five people were bidding and the emblems went for $375. My last bid was $50, I'm happy I didn't get into that. I found a perfect set at the junk yard.. very nice and clean (:

Paid $10

What this does is it lets the greedy idiots point at ebay and say "One sold on there for stupid money, so that justifies the stupid price I ask for the same thing."

No, all that does is make you an opportunistic person who happens to have something that 2 people are stupid enough to get in a public bidding war over.

Neither being a stupid bidder, nor an opportunistic seller is really all that wrong, but you can see how they may play against each other.

Mark.

As always very well put Mark.

I purchased a nice running 1993 D350 5spd with nice aluminum wheels, a nice steel flatbed, and a dealer installed tach back in Nov. I paid $2,200 for it. Hell I should sell the tach, that would be 1/3 of what I paid for the whole truck, LOL
