Am I dreaming?

I want to build a first gen 12v that produces approximately 400 rwhp on #2 only. I'm planning on starting with a 92 or 93 w 5 spd and I want a daily driver that can tow. Reliability is a prime factor here!

Can this be done and at what cost??

When you do start I'd love to follow your build. I have a sweet 92 that I bought in May and would be a great foundation for such a build. I have all kinds of ideas, just short the money for now...

It can be done. Mine is a daily driver and last August put down 394 RWHP on #2. I'm hoping for the magic 400 when I run in Meridian in May '08. I still see 17.5 to 18.5 city mpg depending on the season. Highway mpg still runs 21.0 to 23.0 depending on how fast I want to get from point A to point B. Keep us posted on how your project is coming along.

It definitely can be done. I was at around 370/900 with a setup close to what is in my sig on my 93, but I've made a fuel pin and turbo change, which really woke the truck up.

How much do you want to tow though?

I tow 6k daily and 8- 10k on very rare occasions. I do however haul, sometimes a ton at a time, and tow at the same time so I'd assume bags would be a must on a 3/4 ton.

The NV4500HD swap was not all that bad. I did have trouble with the clutch hydraulics and eventually replaced the master/slave combo. I also built my own rear cross member/trans mount. Rip from Source Automotive then put a 4" exhaust on. With my trans mount my exhaust piping runs straight back from the down pipe to the tail pipe.

I'd like to see pictures of the cross member if you have any.

Did you have the 4" exhaust custom made? I've not seen 4" exhaust kits for these and I want to do it right the first time.

I've got a BD exhaust brake and Rip used a 3" to 4" 2nd gen down pipe. This pipe has 2 45 degree bends instead of 2 90's then runs into a 4" straight pipe with an oversized muffler then into the tail pipe. It is custom made but should not be that hard to do. It provides better over all exhaust flow. People that hear it say it sounds like a big rig. I will try to get over one of the pits at work and get some pic's - will probably be after the first of the year.
