Can't comment on the noise, but I was a little heavy footed on some launches and burnouts, plus some hard shifts with a heavy trailer and that aftermarket shaft took it like a trooper. I got an NV4500 to go behind my P=Pump engine so I won't be able to try 600+ horse through the rag.

Got an aftermarket one in mine with no noise and a little bit of torture so far with more to come. It looks like a real quality piece and machined nicely. My issue is that the pocket bearing rides in the back of the shaft and not replacing it is like reusing an old bearing race with a new bearing. I felt better knowing I had a fresh surface for the bearing, not to mention my pilot bearing chewed the tip of the old shaft up pretty bad.

Sounds like I can sleep at night, I don't have a bombed motor, pull heavy, going to sound deaden my cab, So I should be golden. I started to second guess not going a NV4500, Thanks Artie

A properly set up and broken-in Getrag will go lots longer than a NV4500. Just dont lug them, or try to shift them like a sports car and you'll do just fine.

Daniel, I'm not bashing the rag but my 4500 has been goin strong for 140,000 miles that I've put on it and unknown mileage before I had it and I lug it and shift it like a sports car. I've never had to open it up yet other than pulling the PTO covers to inspect the gears. I probly would have Munched a few rags by now

Now that I say that it will spit its guts out on the highway somwhere in Illinois this weekend.

To the OP, toss it together and make sure you get it setup correctly, setup is crucial to a long lived Getrag. But like Daniel said don't lug it and don't bang gear like its a race car and it should give you years of reliable service.
