93 Sound System idea?

Well... I know this may be odd to some but I was thinking of adding some subs to my truck. Then I realized, would I have room? I'm thinking of going with a couple 8 inchers but even then would that work? If anyones got any setups in their pre 94 trucks let me know and upply pictures if ya can. I need to work something out here or I'm gonna go nuts, lol.

Thanks

When I had an '85 standard cab I had a pair of 8" subs behind the seat. Ported box, f3 of 45 Hz. Never took pics of it. Sold it with the truck, no place for a sub in my Club Cab without making the rear seats or the console useless. The truck was a beater, but I had the amp laying around and the subs were Pyramid $25 specials. Never carpeted the box, just bare particle board. Looked ugly, sounded great. Gave a good back massage, too.

If you don't care for bench seats, put some buckets in it and mount a box in the middle. I did with mine, 2 -12's louder than crap. But gives you a nice armrest and center consol. Tore mine out just 2 weeks ago, building another than's more ergonomically friendly and looks better than just a square between the seats.

With my club cab I was gonna replace one of the back seats with a 12" box I have laying round. Put a pad on top and call it good. Have a mono US acoustics 600w sub amp to use on that one.

Was gonna try to pull the 4x10s out of the back and make some JBL GTO series 5.25s I have work in the holders.

In the front I am going to take the tweets and crossovers from a set I have laying around and use some decent 6x9s in the bottom of the door and put the tweets up in the upper corner of the door pannel... so they are not aimed at my ankles.

I made mounting brackets to put a pair of JBL 4x6 plates I had laying around from my old '89 Cop-price where the 4x10's were. The JBL 6x9's out of the Cop-price are in my doors. The best part was that the Crutchfield adapter harnesses plugged right into the Dodge wiring - whoda thunk it?

I still have the sub out of that car out in the shed, it was a stereo pair of 10"s in a sick bandpass box - the port for each sub was so long it passed through the box of it's neighbor. There was just enough space in the box for the subs and the ports. f3l on that was only 45 Hz IIRC, but the box was tiny for a pair of 10"s.

I really only use the stereo in the truck when the weather's cold anyway - if it's warm out the windows are down so I can listen Mr. Cummins with his backup band Turbo and Straightpipe. They Rock!

I`m thinking of trying an Infinity Basslink
http://www.infinitysystems.com/carau...er=BSL&Cat=PSU
A friend put one in his GMC Typhoon and it sounds real nice, a decent amount of bass but not enough to blast out your eardrums (gettin toooo old for that ) I think it will fit nicely in one of the cavities where the jumps eats are, I plan on installing a bench seat someday, prob out of GM ext cab truck, I think I can make it fit pretty good...the jump`s are useless anyhow.

What is the size of the factory rear speakers? 6x9?

I replaced the door speakers, but not the rears yet. Looking to do that soon.

Since the kids are all grown (****, they are 6'6" now). I have taken out the jump seats of my ext. cab and placed a boxed 10" sub on both sides. Then I bolted a amp to the rear carpeted wall behind the drivers seat so, I don't see it. Still leaves plenty of room to throw gear behind me also, at least a milk crate for having parts with me.

I put 6 X 9 's back there on mine. I had to make/rework the grille screens and mounting points, its a tight fit but it works, sounds great, and looks like they belong there

I was wondering here now... I have some 4x10 to 6x9 converter baffles from my GM G-body days in the junk room somewhere..... might have to dig for them and see if they could be made to work.

Would be nice to close in the back of the enclosures though for better sound. For that reason I will probably stay with the 5.25s and try to make something out of it. The sub will produce enough bass to not need the 6x9s.
