'93 Leaking Injector Pump
'93 Leaking Injector Pump
Help !!!...I have fuel leaking out the breather plug located on the front of the VE pump just above the mounting flange. I dont think it's the throttle shaft seal because it is leaking out the breather plug not from the top of the throttle shaft area. Has anyone had this problem ?? Please advise.
I thought the breather for them were somewhere around the shutdown solenoid... I wish i could help you but im not sure where you are talking about. The only thing i remeber being there is the return line
I hate to say it, but the area you describe is the governer shaft where it goes into the pump. The governer shaft seals in the pump are probably leaking. Definately the first I've held of one leaking here. I think having the whole pump resealed would probably be a good idea.
The only breather on the VE is for the AFC diaphram when it moves under boost. It fairly common to leak there where the little pin comes out of the pump's top cover.

93' VE pump leak
Perhaps what I am calling the breather plug is not a breather at all, is it the end of shaft seal? or else ?. Is it just a plug that can be resealed ? I would hate to pull the pump to find out it could have been fixed without the removal.

Again I think what you described earlier is the shaft the gov. spins on, I'm guessing, but its around 4" long or so. There's an O-ring on it and it threads into the pump body and there is a lock nut on the outside, right above the mounting flange.
The problem is you have to take the shaft part way out at least to replace the o-ring. There are gov. parts that ride on that shaft and might fall loose when it is removed. Unfortunatly the pump has to come off to fix the leak there. Check it again just to be sure thats whats leaking and its not running down from somewhere else.
I wish I could find the good pics of a pump all apart that someone uploaded, that would make trouble shooting this alittle easier.
