'92 2wd LIFTED and LEVELED! Woo HOO!
Just got my truck back (last week) from Planet Pickup in San Antonio, Texas. Kudos to them. They managed to lift my 2wd about 5 1/2" in front and 2" in the rear to match (level). I spoke to a guy named James and he (they) was able to do what no other shop could. Here are answers to the anticipated questions:
1. How?
7226s springs, 2" spacers, longer shocks.
2. How much?
For about $1100 I got: Coils, spacers, adjustable shocks, ball joints, control arm bushings, alignment, rear blocks + u-bolts, labor.
3. How does it ride?
Buy a kidney belt - it rides like a rock.
4. Do I care?
No. I'd rather look cool. So what... I'm shallow.

Nice. How'd they manage to align it? My '85 was up about that high when I bought it, but nobody could get the negative camber out of it until I swapped the locomotive springs out of it. And yeah, it was rough. Sucker had 9 leaf packs on the back instead of overloads. The height was all spring, no spacers. That thing was brutal, I don't miss it a bit. BTW, now you need bigger tires.
Got it back in 2 days. Not really sure how they aligned it but it runs true - even with no hands on the wheel! I'm sure they pushed the limits on what they did. I have verly little downward travel, and I feel EVERY little bump - magnified. If anyone decides to call them please ask for James and tell them Carl sent you. It may score me points for future work. FYI - this is NOT a cheap endorsement for Planet Pickup - I'm just happy with the work!

texas i understand from a friend on first gens ,you can use an airbag for a 02, inside the front spring and relocate the shock,he has done his that way. im going to look at his and see how it looks as well as the ride
man, i gotta say...that truck does look great! i have a 93 d250 club cab and i wouldn't mind having mine up a bit myself. that really looks like a w250! nice job. let us know in the coming weeks/months how your tires are wearing, how often you need alignment and if your new chiropractor
mine is bone stock and my body is jarred all the time i enter my driveway! good thing i have a good chiro!

one more thing... i was wondering how large a tire you could run w/o fender trimming with your new lift? man, that looks so freakin' great i think i might take a trip out to where yours was done and have them lift my red and grey up a little!
After looking at my friends truck with the air bags that is the route i will be taking. Although i did not like the way the shocks were repositioned the lift and ride were great. The bags can raise the front up to 8 inches.if wanted , only thing he did was moved the shocks and brake lines which were probably long enough as they were. But with the accumulater the truck rode like a car i was very surprised,
PS on his the coil springs were removed, but thats not reguired.

loch....can you snap some pics of this setup? i'm sure others would like to see this as much as myself.... what bags is he using? like a kit? or a leveling kit...
I've been seeing these coil spring spacers lately...but only for the 2nd & 3rd gens....wondering if these could be adapted to our 1st gens... any ideas?

I will make an effort to get a few pics. the bags are from firestone for a 94-02 350.

this is the bag he used,it can hold up to a 1000 lbs. with no compresor it has to be inflated with an air hose, but for 80 bucks its not bad.

Where were the shocks relocated to? I'd love to see a pic also...
PlainJane - it's funny you mentioned how good it looks. I am REALLY happy with the look myself, but I have had a number of comments from friends who said that my truck "looked like crap before, but looks kinda mean now".

hey ouchman, i know what you mean when you said your truck kina looks mean now. i wouldn't want to be driving down the opposite way of a narrow road with you on the other side! just looks fantastic! you know, this is the way a big, beefy 4x2 should come from the factory. i know in 94 they changed, but i like my 93! i would love to be able to fit 285's or 305's on my d250 so i can get a better wider tire and some nice looking Alcoa aluminums. i just hate to know that unless i put out the bucks and time down on my truck which i don't have that i will just have to settle for skinny wheels and tires! oh well, i think i just might have to think about this planet shop you talked about. texas sounds like a nice place to spring vacation
