91.5 D250 prospect.Injector pump?

I am going to look at a 91.5 D250 from Florida that is supposedly rust free 175,000 miles. The guy says the truck drives fine up to about 40 MPH and then starts to "hesitate".He says a mechanic checked it out and its the injector pump.
Does this make sense? Is there anyway of diagnosing it?
By the way he's asking $2200.

Could be a fuel filter or lift pump.

Or a loose fuel shut down solenoid wire. Engine vibrations hit the right frequency and jiggles that a bit.

I'm thinkin even if its an injector pump,if I can get a used one, it would be a great daily driver/work truck for a decent price.
How much better is the MPG's on D versus a W?

I got the same mileage in a 4x4 (W) 5spd 4:10's as I did in a 2wd (D) with an auto 3.54's... Both 93's.

Most mileage threads I've seen here on the DTR, guys with D's are getting 2-4 MPG better then the W's. My D350 Crewcab gets consistent 21-24 MPG mixed city/hwy.

But the problem with teh hesitation sounds like something other then IP.
