89 w350 bombing

Ive been reading these forums for a while, this is a great site with tons of info. A few weeks ago i got a 89 w350 i have turned the pump up, but i think bombing syndrome is setting in. This is going to be a play truck with little to no towing. It will ocassionally see the 1/4 mile track. Im looking to get 350 to 400 hp out of it. Im thinking of getting ebay PODs and a htt stage IV and a 3200 gsk. How dose this setup sound. Is the turbo going too small for the PODs? Whats the ballpark hp I'll be looking at? One more question, I've read that you need adaptors to fit the injectors in the 89-91 heads, do the ebay PODs come with them, and if not where can i get them.

Well all non intercooled cummins, have a 9mm injector hole, the intercooled motors have 7mm holes. U can get the brass washer/sleeve at any diesel shop, Scheid,EEP,Cummins, Just tell them that your puting 7mm injectors into a 9mm head. Good Luck My Friend

With what you are planning to add, you should be able to get 325 HP out of it with aggressive pump settings. The hybrid will be a little small, but on a play truck that's no big deal.

My Ebay POD's did have the adapters.

piers can set you up with a balanced set of injectors ,but the stock 89-90 injectors are allredy large 9mm, and will flow good fuel the first thing is to get gauges, then you wont melt down. you wont beable to use all the power with out getting an intercooler .The HTT is a great turbo but you might find a good hx35w for it the big problems with 89-90s are small radiators and no intercoolers but turning up the pump make them FAST play truck .I use my 90 w250 everyday and it will run out and pass traffic great just sucks towing in the hills, maybe my new tranny will cure that but still need to watch EGTs

And Welcome to DTR we love having you here

adaptors

My ebay POD's did not. www.piersdiesel.com has them for $8 each, which is the best price I have found. Just ask the epay seller about them, they might include them for an extra price. You'll need an intercooler if you want to get near 325rwhp. Can't beat the price of them epay POD's.

If you're looking to get the upper end of your 350-400 plans, I would recommend an entire turbo replacement. Other than that, you have a sound plan for a play truck. Mine's pretty fun to drive with just the stock sticks
