I was hoping the FSS wire had fallen off, was already running threw my head. I popped the hood, saw the wire loose, plugged it back in and closed the hood. The RC fired right back up and I may have had the world shortest on the road "break down" ever.

Earlier I had filled the fuel tank and had averaged just over 20 MPG on a 400 mile tank. That was mostly short trips, so I am hoping for a little better on the trip to Pa.
I have about 1000 miles on it since getting it on the road this spring.
Every time I see "Truck just died" The FSS instantly pops into my head.

I was pretty happy the hood was literally open for less than 3 seconds.
I do love these old trucks.

That sounds way better than sitting in your truck for 3 hours, in 18* F weather, wondering if you were going to light your foot on fire with the butane torch you were using to keep warm.

A whole lot more fun in your story...

I keep a case for dead batteries in my glove box. AKA flashlight. I usually use my little Streamlight which is on my hip. I need it more often as I get older for some reason.

Actually, I have a box of prophylactics in there if there is ever an emergency

After nearly 30 years the box is still sealed from the factory...

You could put the candles inside the prophylactics.

My daughter and I set up the smaller tent for the first time in a several years just to make sure it was in good shape for the show. Charlotte will be cleaning the huge cooler tomorrow. I hope to get the passengers door structure welded in tomorrow night and then we will be finishing what we can from there. I have been busy with work and un-able to tinker on the RC much the last week.
I have a friend or the girlfriend here all the time, looking after the place and the dogs while we are gone.
We are getting pretty excited to see our Mopar friends at the show and drive the Gauntlet down to Pa..

I am so envious, and look forward every year to read all the talk and excitement you guys all have in preparation for that show. With retirement right around the corner, I am seriously contemplating making the drive out from CA next year. Not so much to see this special event, but to put faces to the names of most of you folks on here. Oli- are you going to post back pics of the event? I've heard talk about goat meat... Who brings that?

Augie, I would be super impressed if you made the trip out from Cali., that would make my 10 hour drive look toy. I will take some pictures of cool Mopar stuff, Dodge trucks and some of the crew at the show.

My friend and neighbor Walter, who came down last year with his daughter for their first Carlisle show, brought the goat chops. They are headed down for the show again this year with us as they had a blast last year.
Walter, his girlfriend and daughter run a little garlic and produce farm. They also raise pigs, meat rabbits, chickens, ducks and goats. His girlfriend milks the goats and makes cheeses, which means there is usually a mason jar of goat milk in our fridge for Charlotte during the summer. They have had a run on male goats the past couple of springs, so those get turned into meat at some point. The better cuts of goat meat end up on the grill the rest is ground up and their lucky dog gets it. Dinner over at their house is always exciting and different.

Last night Charlotte and I washed and waxed the RC. I am hoping to have a moment to weld up the passenger side door brace and get the door panel back on today.

The passengers door panel is all welded up and cooling down while I have dinner with the family. Then after dinner I will prime the raw steel, fluid film the inside of the door, get the door re-assembled and the door panel back on....Good times in the shop!

Well, Ollie, it's good to hear you're having a great time. Shoot me some photos of the work, as I just sent you a bunch of pics from a project I just completed....

(Non Truck related)

I'm trying to convince the ball and chain to go to carlisle. Only time will tell.

Goat chops on the grille, I assume ?

No more test drives.
Are there still things that I want to do..Sure.
Is it finished... No, but it runs and drives great.
I have a friend looking after the dogs and house while I am gone from Wed - Fri.
The girlfriend has the weekend off.
Charlotte and I are loading up the Gauntlet tonight and hitting the road to Carlisle tomorrow morning. This day has been years in the making.
Walter and his daughter will be leaving tomorrow night in the '05 Hemi 2500. I heard there will be goat and pig mixture burgers for the grill in their cooler...YUM! This will be an awesome weekend! I hope to see a bunch of DTR'er at the show.
I will either be in the show field in the RC section during the day or at night camping at my friends vending spot that I was at last year. Just look for the guy with the hair down past his belt and the happy looking kid with him.
I really hope you and the wife can make it T-man!
