I have an 89 cummins without an intercooler, should i get one? Does anybody else get them? Where can i get one? Do i need one?

 

That depends on what you're planning to use the truck for. If you're going to be towing heavy with a turned up pump and big injectors, you ought to get one. It will keep your EGT down so you can use more of the power that your truck is capable of making. If this is just a daily driver/beater/play truck, it's not really needed. Bank$ sells just the intercooler kit, you don't have to get their whole package. Cost is close to $1,000.

 

Can I get one off a newer dodge?

 

I believe you can retro fit a '92 or '93with some mods to the radiator support.

If I'm wrong the guys with more experiance will let you and I know.

Yes, but trying to find a good used 1st gen intercooler is pretty difficult. If you luck into one, go for it. If you can get the core support out of the donor, do that, it will make things easier.

 

How about a water/meth injection system. You can set it to come on at any given boost level.
THis should have the same effect as the intercooler...
