89 D350 CTD Blowing White/Blue Smoke???

One of my parts trucks (a 1989 CTD Dually) runs great and drives too. However, you cannot stand around it because it billows white/blue smoke from the exhaust even at idle and won't go away. I've let it run for about 30 minutes, I've tried revving it and nothing. I"m guessing it's fuel or oil? Turbo problem, leaky injectors, something else??? Any knowledge on this would be great, thanks!

it smells like oil or diesel not sure but it irritates my eyes and can't breathe. I can't see anything visibily leaking underneath the hood so I'm not sure where to begin...

It's fuel. Does it puff at idle or is it a constant plume?

Sounds like a bad injector. Loosen the injector lines one at a time while the engine is running to isolate the bad one.

You don't. It's messy, so wear old clothes and eye protection.

It's really not that bad, all you do is loosen the nut a little bit. It's not like a fire hose spraying, just a little spurt every time that injector is suppose to fire.

ok so you're talking about right where the lines run into the top of the injector? then I just do it for each one until it stops smoking and then my problem should be resolved correct?

Well, it won't solve the problem, it will just tell you which injector is the problem one.

Yes, you want to loosen the nut at the top of each injector, one at a time. If the smoke doesn't clear, tighten the nut and move to the next one.
