Anyone know what to do with a Torqueflite transmission that leaks from the band adjustment screw that's just above the throttle valve lever? I tried basically covering the screw and jam nut with a whole tube of RTV, but of course, it still leaks through.
This is a problem I'm having with "Mooseknuckle", my 4x4 '86 Ramcharger.
I do the best that I can to avoid being in the presence of auto-majic transmissions, and hence, am pretty ignorant of them. This forum is the best brain-trust that I know of where it comes to things like this.

I've not seen a band screw leak yet. They don't even come with a seal or o-ring from factory for any years.
The front cooler line, right below it, is a pressure feed to the cooler and will leak profusely if rusted, loose or cracked. It is a 3/8" flared line and needs no sealer.
The brass adapter into the case is pipe thread, needs dope or sealer, and can crack the case if over-tightened
.
Some trucks are optioned with a temp sensor in the cooler line in that same area and are known to leak through the body too.
If it leaks after sitting a few days, the valve body (shifter) shaft seal is leaking, and is not too hard to do, but you'll need to drop the valve body to do both seals properly.
Get a mirror and a light (or a cell phone video) and see what's going on.

Thanks for the feedback. I can't find anything where anyone else is getting a leak from that screw, so I'm kind of at a loss as to what to do about it. Might just have to live with it.
I already fixed the leaky neutral safety switch and the coolant line fitting that you mentioned. I was planning on doing just what you said with the two (also leaking) seals on the throttle valve shaft.
Everything on the driver side of the transmission that could leak was leaking. What sucks is that I just installed this thing after paying for a rebuild. I guess learning to rebuild my own Torqueflites is in my future.
