if you look into scrap/salvage/bone yards the early 4l80e's had stand alone computers ('89 to '91) in the old chevy iron, like the suburbans and one tons that dident change body styles till '92 those comps can be had ad a great price usally when and i emphisise WHEN you can find them but most people dont know this or look over the fact there in ther, i belive they are behind the glove box but the TBi computer is also back there so be carful when looking, search online for factory GM standalone 4l80E computers you should be able to find an engine

 

I was kind of thinking the early ones didn't have a computer at all, but i guess they do. So that sounds a little easier if I find an early 4l80e. If I am comprehending this correctly.

 

Any known "Bread Truck" grave yards in Al. was the 3/4 or 1 ton models?

 

I think bread trucks all ran non overdrive trannys/.

 

GM bell housing bolt patterns didn't change.
