i can go 65 or 70 in 3rd gear, 90-95 in 4th and i couldnt tell you what it will do in 5th. thats with a 366 spring and the high idle out. enough speed and rpm for me.

You'll probably have to do some linkage adjustment after that, but basically you're allowing the gov spring travel further this way, so you'll get more RPM and more room to run without defueling. I know I was over 2700rpm on my dyno run and the operator kept telling me to keep going, my HP was still climbing. Sadly, the dyno chart is vs wheel speed, not RPM, so I can't tell exactly since there is TC slip. But I was watching my tach occasionally during my run, and I think I was 2900-3000rpm or so, stock gov. spring.
ok ive got it so far, but one last question on this screw lol. where is it located? im guessing on the inside of the pump? thank you!

Its the set screw under he afc closest to the drivers dender. The one closest to the motor is the low idle (actual idle) screw

Typically our trucks don't make a lot of power north of about 2800rpm though.
My fueling consists of a Walbro electric lift-pump pushing through a bypass type regulator via 3/8th" lines, which feeds a stock/OEM 12mm VE injection pump (with a modified 3200 spring). From there, the fuel goes to some Scheid 6x.016" EDM injectors. That and a LOT of IP timing advance. The balance of my bombs deal with airflow through the engine.

-> My 3200 rpm spring has two loops cut from it and is stretched to fit in the IP like it ought to (too impatient to find/order a 3800 spring). I'm pleased that the HP curve is fairly flat above 2600rpm. I guess you could say it peaks around 3400 ~3600rpm.

rotate the throttle linkage on the pump by hand until it's at full throttle. That screw holding you back from rotating it any more is the high idle.

Wow, thats alot of rpm out of a 3200 spring. I no longer have any sort of high idle stop, it just rotates till it hits the pump. So I wonder just what rpm mine will defuel now. Probibly not till long after it throws a rod thru the block.

With my timing at 2.15 mm and the regular ol' 366 spring I can turn 41-4200 rpm.
If I advance the timing to the head it would be around 2.30 mm.
Advancing the timing does wonders for higher rpm goals.

Now I am interested in the 3800 or 4200 spring.
What are the part numbers and do they need to be modified to work correctly?

I have been trying out my new fuel system and 30 min ago i was doing some 50mph roll on's and i have a 3200 spring and it is touchy to the order if the road is bumpy i can hear my foot bouncing out the stacks, with my OD off i can hit 90 mph at 3650rpm on an isspro tach with factory crank pickup.

I just put a 354 (4200) in my pump this week and love it, The throttle is very sensitive but I wouln't say its touchy. I cut 2 coils out of mine also.

I believe the 3800 spring is a 374 but I could be wrong

FWIW this truck has an un modified(I think) 366 in it and it turns well north of 4000rpm, thats where his old tach stopped.

So if she turned north of 4,000rpm before, whats the advantage of the 354 spring? Does it feel like it's fueling harder in the higher rpms vs a 366 with the high idle out?

Thats something you would have to ask Jeff, I do know that to make a 366 spin that fast you need lots of timin and lots of fuel.
