Thanks for posting those up T-man. The pictures show the two hot side 2nd gen pipes being cut down and re welded up in a new shape. The tight clearance for the bumper bracket / intercocoler…along with the bumper and lower valence. Then the HX35 spring waste gate installed.

Interesting waste gate spring setup I have not seen the style before and was wondering how it works. More pics would probably explain it, and yes, I know how difficult that is for you to do.

Nonrev,
The bracket bolts between the oil drain pipe and the center section of turbo. I needed two gaskets to do it that way. Then the spring mounts against the bracket and hooks to the lever on the wastegate.
It is pretty slick as I can clock the cold side of the turbo anyway I want and the spring gate still stays aligned.

Thanks buddy!

That should make it easier to see what is going on for our friend Vern!

I swapped out the 2 bolts that hold the drain on for a couple of studs and nuts.

Yes it did, it looks like a very simple compared to several I have seen. Thanks for the quick reply from you as well as NJTman for posting them.

I like the way it looks and the way it cleanly installs. It seems like it will work great. I had a hard time squeezing the spring down enough to get it attached so it should allow me to build some serious boost pressure. It is east to adjust, even in the truck.
I am using the ‘98.5-‘02 style 24V turbo which has the waste gate attached to the cold side, which makes it impossible to clock and still use the OEM set up. My choices where adjust the fuel to where I only hit about 35 PSI of boost with the waste gate wired shut, or try this out.

The last few years I have just been running it with the waste gate not hooked up and the pump de -tuned a bit to keep WOT boost down to 32-35. With the new intercooler and spring waste gate I am hoping I can add some more fuel, which should help with low to mid throttle power. Yet still be able to keep it about 35 PSI at full tilt boogie, as the waste gate with dump some of the extra pressure.

Good looking install Oliver, looks clean for fitting all those goodies behind the grill. I see the notch in the bumper bracket looks to be exactly the same as what I had to do on the 78.

Got the truck all back together and drove it a couple of days ago for a quick 50 miles.

After sitting in the shop with the Power Stoke intercooler swap half done for 3 months, getting it out on the road was a win in itself….
Hard to tell if the bigger intercooler was a major help on my unloaded back road cruise. Power seemed to be good and the EGTs where low.
