26psi max boost
26psi max boost
I don't get over 26psi of boost. I recently got new injectors bully +50hp gained 3psi. My sign tells what I have. Everything on the intake has been replaced last year. Head has been rebuilt. I think I should be seeing well over 35psi. Intercooler doesn't leak checked that already new hoses on it. I was thinking about the wastegate being stuck open. Would this be a common problem. I am open to any suggestions. Other then this boost problem the truck runs great! even with only 26psi.
The stock wastegate controller ought to open at 25 psi. You need a boost elbow (basically a calibrated leak in the wastegate hose) to get more boost. You can buy a boost elbow or make your own, obviously making one requires some trial and error. If you want to make one, get an 1/8 npt tee , an allen head pipe plug, and two hose barbs. Put the tee in line in the wastegate hose, drill a small hole (0.060" or so) in the pipe plug and put that in the third port. If you have enough boost I guessed right. If you don't - make the hole bigger. If you have too much, get a new pipe plug and drill a smaller hole this time.
Hmmm... EGT's OK? You may not have enough fuel to make more boost. That could be due to a stuck fuel enrichment pin (the little pin that rides on the fuel pin). Or you just might need more fuel
Time for the power pin and 3200 RPM spring.
If it's running hot and you've leak checked the whole intake system, you could try disconnecting the wastegate rod and wiring the flapper shut temporarily to see if the actuator is misadjusted and keeping the wastegate partly open.

EGT are good normal. The pump was rebuilt last year, I will have to check the enrichment pin. You really think I might need more fuel. If that's the case this thing is a pig. I know about the fuel pin and spring wallet has been kind of empty lately.
This truck is a diesel hog. I might order the fuel pin on monday. Leaving for Fl. on Thursday night or Friday morning. gota get it before then.
Could you describe the enrichment pin. I was looking at Dave Fritz's web page to see if I could find it (enrichment pin).

The fuel enrichment pin is the little pin that rides against the cone on the fuel pin. With the fuel pin out, you should be able to make the fuel enrichment pin pop out by cycling the throttle lever.
I just checked it (Enrichment pin). It moves freely. Thanks for the help Dave. I can't belive this truck needs more fuel. I still have post turbo pyro at 26lbs of boost it's right around 700*. When I am climbing the mountains I have to watch the EGTs thats normal though. Dave what you are telling me I have to call F1 to get different injectors. This truck will be insane by the time I get done with moding it.

Wondering if your getting full use of the throttle. If your cable was new, when you built your truck it may have stretched. Might be able to back down the smoke screw since you have a turbo upgrade. In case your foot's a little heavy on the launch. Did you get your injectors new or used? Just thinking out loud....
Injectors are new. The cable is orginal. What will backing out on the smoke screw besides lowering the smoke anything else? Yeah I'm getting full throttle I checked that a little while ago.
