260 bar injectors

What's everyone's opinion on first Gen injectors set to 260 bar?

I have some 7x12's on the way and they are set at 260 bar. How much timing will I need to run with these?

Pretty close. You will need to bump it close to a quarter or more depending on what the injectors and you engine likes.

Well I got the injectors put in.

Had to raise the idle just a tad, truck idles smooth and runs very well. It does haze at idle but I have not advanced my timing yet, I will probably go 1/2" or more and hopefully it will clear up.

Truck runs 40 psi and will bury the egt gauge pretty quickly. I am going to put on my T4 HX40 and run a full 4" exhaust behind it and it should help a lot other than the 19cm exhaust housing on it.

I literally met a guy locally who did exactly what you are going to do and he says spoolup is worse than the stock turbo and EGTs are actually higher. I doubt you'll like it.

I actually had it on my old 91 with pods and it wasn't bad at all. I think people have heard bad things about a 19 cm housing on a t4 hx40 but have never ran one. For What I'm using the truck for it will be fine, yeah it may spool a little slower but I can still daily drive it with no smoke.

I Just want to get rid of this haze from the injectors.

You should bump your timing a little at a time, say in 1/8" increments. A half inch is a lot.

Timing can only go about 1/4" unless you jump a tooth on the pump. At that point the AFC is touching the head and is maxed out.

7 hole injectors sound like they would atomize pretty well. Should make cleaner power than the huge 4-5 hole injectors.

Your safe advancing the timing all the way to the head with those. They are 145* tips right?

A T4 foot 19cm housing flows more than a T3 foot 19cm.

I am trying to research why and I do believe it is because there is higher exhaust velocity when it hits the blade causing it to spool faster due to the exhaust "moving" faster.

OP, get a HX35 and make a hybrid. That T4 foot is gonna kill you. You won't be able to bring the spool up to its efficiency range needed to cool the injectors.

Its like the difference in these 62/65/14 and the 62/71/14 turbos. Larger turbine wheel, larger exhaust porting. So the exhaust side flows more and will spool slower because there will be less back pressure to spin it. Top end once its spooled should be cooler though, at least I would think????

Correct to a point. The 71 is more mass. Yes, once spooled it is cooler but keeping it spooled is also a factor.

The same size turbine wheel in a T3 and T4 looks like they have different spooling characteristics.

Like flowing water in a 1/2" pipe and 5/8" pipe. More water volume is needed in the 5/8" to get the pressure of the 1/2" BUT the 5/8" flows more. @ PSI.

The 65's and 71's are like a 12" pipe wrench and a 16" pipe wrench. 1 is heavier to lug around but has more leverage for getting the job done on bigger projects.

Why lug the 16" around when the 12" does just fine? You won't tire from carrying the 12" around all day.

I hope I made sense.
