Wouldn,t 10 wt. non-detergent oil be the perfect additive for lubing the pump and clean burning summer or winter? That is all a friend of mine uses, and he adds half a qt for each tank of fuel.

 

Anybody mix 10 wt. non-detergent oil with thier fuel?

 

I thought the flashpoint of synthetics was to high to run as a fuel. Or do you just not as as much? Im used to pouring whole gallon jugs of used dino oil in my tank...

 

Air temp in the cylinder when injection happens is around 750 f even at idle. Whatever you spray in there is gonna burn.

Would it be detrimental to put 2 cycle oil in my 2007 ULSD safe Engine in my other truck ? No Cat or reburn, but concerned about the engine itself. Considering that engine is supposed to be designed to work without the need for the sulfur lubricity that ours weren't, I was hoping someone would know whether or not I should, and if you had any information links to back up the answer.

Bought my first bottle of the Penz 2 cycle oil. Lookn forwards to seeing if it runs any smoother,or quieter.

 

I use tranny fluid from time to time.

 

I tried a half quart in a half tank of fuel, it seemed to help my low-idle-once-warmed-up condition.

I suspect any non-brand-name oil, and am surprised about the Supertech/Walmart 2-stroke oil. I know some guy on the yesterdays tractors website had to replace a year-old, low-hour hydraulic pump, and the oil sample came back severely depleted, replace immediately. He sent in a sample of the new TSC-brand hydraulic oil he had just put in again, straight out of the bucket, and it came back nearly depleted, replace soon.

 

You should do some research on the negative effects of this.
I used to do this as well, in my big trucks, as an old timer(my grandfather)told me to.Now I know better.
I am not an authority to tell you that you can not, just saying, you should research the subject.

This morning I filled my tank and put a half quart of house brand 2-stroke oil in the tank with it. As it mixed in it slowly got a little quieter and I started getting some smoke out of it. I haven't seen smoke in a while. With a tailwind, it didn't sound any louder than a gasser. I think I am sold on the 2-stroke oil.

I didn't drive quite as far as yesterday, and had about 400 pounds less in the truck, but had a strong cross/headwind most of today, and used almost a 1/4 tank less fuel.

 

Since I dug up this thread, I've been using the two cycle Penzoil product, and it's significantly affected the "loudness" of the engine. For some reason it's quieter. I have no idea as to why, but works, at least for me.

If all it does is make the truck less noisy, I'll continue to utilize it on every fill up. I guess the improved lubrication won't hurt either.

 

I was reading a 2 stroke outboard blog yesterday, about the quality and price of various 2 stroke brands and found out that wally world 2 stroke is made by Penzoil and significantly less expensive. There was a data sheet linked that showed it to be the same as their premium blend. They are burning it to lubricate their entire engine and we are burning it to save a few seals. I would say that cheaper is better for our application. P.S. Hola from Mexico and 75 degrees and the war must be in a truce, because life seams to be normal around here...Mark Olè

 

I just bought a gallon of Walmart's SuperTech 2-stroke Outboard TC-W3 oil for $11.52. They must have discontinued the Universal type which was said to have less ash than the Outboard type, because the Outboard jug specifically stated that it is ashless. Before Walmart, I happened to stop by a Pep Boys just to see what they had one hand. They only had their generic brand (I forget the name, but was in a black jug) was only $0.50 more than SuperTech but it never mention anything about ashless. The truck has about 3/8 of a tank and so I will be filling up shortly and adding a quart of SuperTech to mix with all, roughly 30 gallons.

I searched for Pennzoil's 2-stroke oil on Autozone's website and only came up with quart containers, which ran $5 each! The quart containers of SuperTech were around $4.50 IIRC. If what Mark says is correct and Pennzoil makes Walmart's SuperTech then SuperTech it is!
