First Gen bucket seats consensus ..
Kind of rehashing, but wanted to know what the best alternative bucket seats people have found and used to swap out bench seat. I used dodgecaravan buckets in my truck probably 10 years ago and ripped them out with the carpet and jute because rats had their way with them and I'm redoing truck. Wasn't totally happy with the fitment (had to fab some brackets) but now I'm thinking maybe something else may be better. If anyone has run across ones they really like I'd be curious to know what they are.
Truck is 90 standard cab.

RC buckets are the same as club cab seats - if they are from the same year. I have '92 / '93 Club cab seats in my '89 Ramcharger. I like them better than the '89 bucket seats in the RC, that do not have the same padding / support on the side of the seats.
I also used a driver's bucket seat out of a '92 Ramcharger in my '92 Club cab build. It perfectly matches the other seats already in my '92 club cab, right down to the Spice color. The original drivers bucket seat in the club cab had a broken seat hinge and the cushion was rough.
I am even using those '92 front club cab seats in my '70 pop top RC build.
Being over 6 FT and liking my seat to be far away from the steering wheel. I would never install those bucket seats in a Regular cab. - I would hate the straight up and down position of the seat back once I had pushed the seat bottom back enough from my legs. If someone gets in my truck they often comment on the "pimp" like seat position of the drivers seat.
I also have Dodge caravan bucket seats in one of my '85 crew cab builds. Once again lots more cab room than a reg. cab.
All the regular cabs I drive have bench seats in them. If you used low back bucket seats, you would gain more leg room.

Not exactly bucket seats; but, I ran across a pair of never-installed bug plush Captains Chairs that matched the wife's interior and are actually a bit nicer than the super-nice ones I have in my Ford; mine are really nice, but hers seem thicker.
I can't remember exactly what I did to mount them but I do remember it wasn't nearly so dreadful as I was expecting.
They look like they belong in there; and, when other women ride with her, the first thing they say is how nice the seats are.
I was spreading newspapers to do something on the work-bench and saw this classified where some lady was selling another set of Captains Chairs out of a brand-new conversion van; I quickly checked the date of the paper; quit what I was doing; and, promptly called her up and was down there in a few minutes with cash in hand, even talked her down a bit.
I got those for the son's truck but haven't installed them yet.
It turns out that her husband had some crippling malady set in on him and they had to remove those brand-new seats to make way for his wheel-chair lift and handicap stuff..
I'm a hair over six-feet and wear tall-heeled riding boots and have plenty of leg room with the Captains Chairs; maybe because I also always block my seats up a couple inches; I much prefer to look down across the hood than to be sitting in the floor.
Other guys ride in my trucks and comment on how they like not sitting so low and how much better they can see.

I have a 2nd gen seat in my '90 standard cab. They fit well after some time with a Sawzall and a welder. I installed a set of 2007 bucket seats in my 1974 crew cab. They also required about a day of fitment, but they are super comfortable.

i was looking at going 2ndgen in my '90, but as best as i could measure, I'd lose legroom that i cant afford to lose.

I cut the 2nd gen mounts down to move the seat lower. I can recline a little, more than the OE bench, but not like in a 2nd gen cab.
The crucial step is to mount the seats to the OE holes or reinforce the floor if you don't use the OE bench holes.

Ended up going with some Subaru Impreza seats- plenty of adjustment on the slide and back tilts plenty. They kinda look like they don't belong for sure lol but they do fit in there good.
